This thief from Brazil may forever be embarrassed after a tattoo artist caught him and inked his forehead with 'I am a thief'.

He tattooed the teen after he allegedly stole a bicycle from a man who had just one leg. They said that he was a drug user and had disappeared from the family home on May 31st. He sat him down wrote in Portuguese: Eu sou ladrão e vacilão which means "I am a thief and a loser".

"I asked them to make the tattoo on my arm but they said they would do it on my forehead and started laughing", the boy told the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper. They confessed to the attack, saying they had caught him about to steal a bike from a disabled man, Brazilian media reported Monday.

Maycon Wesley Carvalho dos Reis, 27, and his neighbour, Ronildo Moreira de Araújo, 29, cornered the teenager and tattooed the inscription on his head in. They explained the sick act as a "lesson" and a "form of punishment" for trying to steal a bicycle. "I begged them to break my arms and legs instead", the teen told the paper. At one point, the man filming is heard laughing and says, "It's going to hurt". The two men also cut the teen's hair after he attempted to hide the tattoo.

The teenager's family said he had gone missing on 31 May and recognised him after seeing the video, which was uploaded on Friday.

Police identified the men after they shared a video online of them making the tattoo. The incident took place in a city near Sao Paulo.

Volunteers created an Internet fundraising page to help pay for the tattoo removal. He was reunited with his family in June, according to reports. The campaign has already raised more than $5,800.
