Seeing as the Transformers movies are mostly known for being explosive CGI showcases and not too much else, they might as well lean into it.

Transformers: The Last Knight - the fifth film in the franchise - is due out next week, but the actor isn't a fan of how he looks.

In particular, the film is being shot fully with 3D cameras, whereas most big-budget films are still shot in 2D and converted to 3D in post-production.

Throughout his 10-year span of making movies about giant robots, Michael Bay has only made two other films, 13 Hours and Pain & Gain.

Those curious to see a Transformers movie not directed by Mr. "They take a lot out of you", Bay said when we asked if he was finally - for real, this time - stepping away from the Transformers franchise. That seems like a fun one to do. He previously said that he was done with the series after he completed the first trilogy. I'm going out with a bang on this one, and I feel like you gotta go out while you're ahead, you know. "Us dealing with each other, it makes for a lot of great humor, and then I was kind of sent on this mission... to help save the world, bring the Transformers back together".

On a lighter note, Wahlberg also showed his body's strength, revealing how he got in shape for the movie in just three weeks, right after wrapping "Patriots Day".

Wahlberg had recently filmed Patriots Day before Transformers 5, which required a totally different body shape; and quite the transition.

This is only the second Transformers movie that Mark Wahlberg has starred in after his character Cade Yaeger, an inventor who gets caught up in the fight between Autobots and Decepticons after stumbling upon Optimus Prime, joined the franchise in Age of Extinction.

Transformers: The Last Knight is released in cinemas on June 23. Assuming Wahlberg's comments can be taken at face-value, that means that the franchise will be introducing its third human protagonist, in Transformers 6.
