Google said the Assistant will allow users to pay for stuff, but during a later talk regarding Android Pay it also revealed users will soon be allowed to send and receive money via the Assistant.

Google said in its blog post, "Yesterday, we announced the Google Payment API, which lets people pay in the app or online with any verified credit or debit card saved to their Google Account, via products like Google Play, Chrome, and YouTube".

It means iPhone users now have the option to choose between the Google service or its own Siri. Meaning that, even though your Android phone already comes with some apps out of the box courtesy of OS developer Google, you can expand upon that collection by simply entering the Play Store.

In order to send money users will need to have a Google Home or an Android device at their disposal, as well as a debit card attached to their Google Account.

Developers will be able to use this API to build an easy checkout system into their apps.

In a blog post, Google confirmed that it would soon allow US users to send or receive payments directly using Google Assistant. For example, if you point the camera to a particular dish on a menu, then Google Assistant will come back with the picture of the dish from the internet.

Google is also working on a new loyalty scheme through the Card Linked Offers API. Therefore, if you lose your phone, or upgrade to a newer one, all your old apps will immediately begin to download once you allow it. Yay!

It's also going to be much easier to add loyalty programs for a user, as Pali Bhat, VP of Payment Products at Google explains: "We're also making it easier for Android Pay users to add loyalty programs".
