The homeowner saw them trying to steal his vehicle and came out with a gun pointed at them.

Rowe and Dubose then crashed and fled on foot, Goodwin said. This photo provided by the Elbert County Sheriff's Office taken on October 13, 2015 shows inmate Ricky Dubose.

"As a precaution, law enforcement officers were stationed up and down in the vicinity of the interstate as a precaution, just in case", Jones said.

Sills agreed with reporters that Dubose will have trouble hiding his prominent tattoos, which include crowns above his eyebrows, a star below his right ear and graffiti-style letters all across his neck.

The fugitives came across a home nearby, where they attempted to steal another vehicle. The two had previously been cellmates in a different Georgia prison.

Since their escape, there had been numerous reported sightings, and authorities had offered a reward for their capture.

A photo of the two suspects after their capture was quickly shared by law enforcement and news agencies across the country.

A Tennessee Bureau of Investigation photo shows the arrest of Georgia fugitives Donnie Rowe, top, and Ricky Dubose in Christiana, Tenn.

"We will do everything in our power to support their loved ones, and we will not forget their sacrifice and service", Deal said.

A high speed chase followed with the suspects, Donnie Russell Rowe and Ricky Dubose, firing on at least two of the deputies' vehicles during the pursuit. The two escaped inmates sought in the killings of two guards on a.

The prisoners breached a protective gate on the bus to reach the officers at the front of the bus, before disarming and killing them both, the sheriff's office said. In Tennessee yesterday, they led police on a 10-mile auto chase that ended in a wreck and gunshots.

Sills had described the fugitives this week as "dangerous beyond description".

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal applauded the "tireless efforts" of law enforcement but also turned his thoughts to the families of the two officers, saying their pain remains. TBI's Gwyn wasn't immediately sure who would collect the reward.

"At that time we got a call from a homeowner that there was a subject at his house and he had him at gunpoint", said Fitzhugh.

The capture put an end to a multistate manhunt that lasted almost 60 hours after the inmates escaped Tuesday morning in Putnam County in central Georgia.

After their escape on Tuesday, in Putnam County, Georgia, Sheriff Howard Sills said that #The Public was in grave danger and the whereabouts of the inmates were unknown. The two were considered to be friends in prison and shared a cell together.

Sgt. Curtis Billue was 58 years old and leaves behind two sons.

The men were caught Thursday evening in the rural community of Christiana, Tennessee, ending a three-day manhunt.

"It has become a nationwide search", said Special Agent David LeValley, who runs the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in Atlanta.

The saga began with what could have been a scene out of a movie: 33 inmates were riding on a Georgia corrections bus as they were being driven to another prison. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Park.

The men entered the driver's compartment, overpowered and disarmed Officers Christopher Monica and Curtis Billue while the bus was on State Route 16 between Eatonton and Sparta, police said. The FBI had asked for the public's help, calling the search expanding.

They most recently were housed at Baldwin State Prison near Milledgeville. The men are accused of murdering two prison guards while being transferred Tuesday in Georgia and managed to escape on foot.

Reports claimed that Rowe was originally from Lewisburg, Tennessee.

"They've certainly had time to get out of the state", Sills said.

This all started Tuesday morning when investigators said Dubose and Rowe jumped the correctional officers, shot them and then broke out of the bus in Putnam County.
