The Premier League schedule for the 2017-18 season was published Wednesday, with Chelsea playing Burnley at home in the opening round in mid-August.

Even though it is not a derby, the game is sure to be spectacular because both clubs will be looking to clinch the Premier League.

Just days before their first Champions League qualifying game, Liverpool head to Watford to open up their campaign.

Tottenham, meanwhile, have four fixtures against teams expected to be battling relegation comes season's end in their first seven games. They will welcome the New Year with an away trip to Burnley.

A solid start to the season can be vital for those teams with title aspirations, especially at a time when as many as six teams all have genuine hopes of finishing top. It's set to be another great season. The two north-western giants clash at Anfield in October, and at Old Trafford in March.

Last season's defeat to the Gunners prompted Antonio Conte to switch formations and romp to the title.

Huddersfield Town's first Premier League match will take place at Crystal Palace. How Chelsea respond to the added pressure of Europe will be key.

Should Arsenal the youngsters in the Europa League?

Another week, another London derby.

There will be some early Christmas cheer in the blue half of Manchester should City topple United at Old Trafford on December 9, but April could prove more decisive as they host their neighbours and then visit Tottenham.

It looks like an extremely hard end to the season for Premier League newbies Huddersfield Town.

Indeed their start to the season is something of a dream for Pep Guardiola, facing an opening day match against Brighton, before hosting Everton the following week. Their only challenge during Champions' league group stages will be a home match against Liverpool. Everton and Arsenal come to Stamford Bridge, while Chelsea travel to Brighton and Stoke.

Tottenham's hardest game after a Champions League match is on October 21 when they host Liverpool. However, for the first time in a while, the first derby will be held at Anfield. A victory over their north London rivals in their own backyard would be an even bigger indication that the balance of power has shifted.

There are some intriguing fixtures over what will be a hectic festive period. It might not be pretty but it will be worth watching.
