Scalise, the third ranking member of House Republican leadership, was shot in the hip and his condition was upgraded to serious on Saturday.

MedStar Washington Hospital Center made the announcement on Tuesday, almost a week after a gunman opened fire on Scalise and his Republican colleagues at a baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia. "After discharge he will need a period of healing and rehabilitation".
