Usain Bolt partied with his devoted fans in an emotional farewell at the National Stadium on Saturday as the world's fastest man ran his final race on Jamaican soil.

The eight-time Olympic champion told reporters after the race: "I don't think I've ever been that nervous running the hundred metres".

Bolt will line up in the last race on the schedule - the "Salute to a Legend" 100m race against fellow countrymen Michael Frater, Nesta Carter, Jevaughn Minzie, and Nickel Ashmeade.

What a way to say goodbye. "That is what I will miss about track and field".

The crowd at the sold-out stadium erupted in cheers as fireworks lit up the sky following Bolt's win, according to ESPN.

"PokerStars is a victor and I'm happy to join Kevin in helping to bring poker and PokerStars to the masses", said Bolt, ahead of his final race in his home country on June 10th.

He said he plans to run the 100m at the London World Championships but he still has a lot of work to do to get ready.

"I'm just going there to do my best and to come through victorious as always".

"I always try to make sure they're happy because they're very hard to please", added the man who clocked 50 sub-10 second 100 metres in his career.

That relay in Beijing started Bolt's run of gold-medal sweeps in the 100, 200 and relay at three straight Olympics.

But before he gives up on sprinting, the Jamaican wants to merge the greatest sprinter with the world's best footballer in a mega race.

"PokerStars is a victor and I'm happy to join Kevin in helping to bring poker and PokerStars to the masses", said Bolt, via a press statement.

Simbine ran 10.21 in the 100m and Van Niekerk 19.84 in the 200m in Boston, but those times aren't official as they were run on a temporary track on a street.

But there is also a serious side to Bolt which American Olympic gold medallist Allyson Felix found out on Thursday.

A "who's who" of modern track greats, including world record holders Wayde Van Niekerk and David Rudisha and double Olympic and world champion Mo Farah, will be among those participating in the meet.

"But all good things, one day, must come to an end and he has decided that this is it for him", Mills said.
