From June 16, there is a standoff between India and China in the Dokalam region.

Keeping in view that the border standoff between China and India in the Doklam region has lasted nearly two months, Zhao said that China should continue to pressure India and prepare for possible military operations.

The official however said there was no deployment of extra troops at the tri-junction between India, China and Bhutan, where around 350 Indian army personnel have been locked in a face-off with Chinese troops for almost seven weeks.

China has been ramping up rhetoric against India over the last few weeks, demanding immediate withdrawal of Indian troops from Dokalam.

Meanwhile, Reuters reports that Indian troops in Sikkim, south of Doklam, have been put on heightened alert, although the news agency quoted an unnamed source as saying it was "out of caution".

Tensions between China and India have long flared from time to time as the two powers compete for land in a tiny corner of the world where their borders meet. The neighbors also have a continuing dispute over the sovereignty Aksai Chin, a Himalayan region on their extreme western border. Doklam plateau is not very far from the Silliguri Corridor - also referred to as the Chicken Neck - that connects the northeastern states with the rest of India.

"As you know, we have relationships with both governments".

India's foreign minister Sushma Swaraj met her Bhutanese counterpart Damcho Dorji in Kathmandu today on the sidelines of a regional bloc's meeting hosted by Nepal.

In a recent development surrounding Doklam, the government of Bhutan has refuted Chinese claims of Thimpu telling Beijing that the territory in the Sikkim sector does not belong to Bhutan.

A meeting between the local commanders from India and China at Nathu La in Sikkim, 30 kilometres north of Doklam ended on Aug 11 without resolution, according to the official.

No mention of either "fire" or "fury" appears to have been made at any point.
