Team India faces a hectic schedule in the season ahead which finds them playing a plethora of limited-overs matches against Australia and New Zealand, with Sri Lanka lined up for a full return tour towards the end of the year. In the last few days, many media houses speculated that selectors will go back to their old guns, but all such rumours to bed, selectors chose to stick to their young squad and didn't include the likes of Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh.

Whereas, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul have been recalled for the five ODIs and the one-off T20I.

Rahul returns to the squad after missing the Champions Trophy and the West Indies' series after undergoing a shoulder surgery as does Pandey who suffered a side strain during the IPL and was subsequently replaced by Dinesh Karthik for Champions Trophy and West Indiaes.

Manish Pandey was chosen for the ICCChampions Trophy, which was held in England and Wales in June, but could not go due to injury.

Suresh Raina too has been overlooked by the selectors.

The bowling department might see some shuffling as Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami are set to be rested.

A five-match one-day worldwide series between the teams begins on August 20. India will be aiming to clinch the ODI series as well.

The squad: Virat Kohli (captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma (vice captain), Lokesh Rahul, Manish Pandey, Ajinkya Rahane, Kedar Jadhav, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur. The second and third matches will be played at Pallekele on 24 and 27 August followed by the final two games at Colombo on 31 and 3 September.
