"I don't want to be alarmist: We're all going to die", Colbert continued, "because USA intelligence now believes North Korea is making missile-ready nuclear weapons". "The president also has the power in the Constitution to defend the USA and take all necessary measures if we are threatened, I struggle to understand how there would be a threat so grave that the preemptive response from this administration would be a nuclear bomb". Tonight: The frightening rhetoric between President Trump and North Korea has Stephen taking cover. The United States, we sanction a lot of other countries.
"We sanction a lot of other countries countries - we sanctioned Russian Federation just last week and it felt pretty great", he finished. "Our leaders need to encourage talks between North Korea and other countries, especially China and Russian Federation".
Whenever North Korea ratchets up its rhetoric, the world typically turns to the US president for a response. "I'm just kidding", Colbert joked.
"North Korea, I think undeniably, is a threat to the United States", he said.
An exasperated Colbert could barely react to the clip. "He's a loose cannon like Mel Gibson in 'Lethal Weapon" and also that one time he got pulled over".
