Information coming in the following months revealed that the headset would be using Microsoft's #Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) platform.

The technical fellow has broad ambitions for WMR saying, "Mixed reality will unleash the creativity of every person and every organisation on the planet" And that it, "Will change the way we communicate, work and play". "We are the only company to have embraced the entire continuum for Mixed Reality", said Kipman explaining this spans, "From Augmented Reality to Virtual Reality - and everywhere in-between".

The Odyssey was unveiled at Microsoft's Windows Mixed Reality event last night, alongside Microsoft's acquisition of AltspaceVR and a new Halo VR experience titled "Halo Recruit". The new headset looks a lot like Facebook's Oculus Rift and other high-end products, but Microsoft says it's easier to use than its competition-and it has a few other big advantages too. There will be apps from 20,000 titles that support the platform including games like Minecraft.

Samsung is yet to confirm when this product is going to be announced but chances are that we might hear about it later today at Microsoft Mixed Reality event.

It is always hard in the wake of the kind of tragedy we all experienced this week to try to be business-as-usual, because well, it's just not usual. With inside-out position tracking, users are not restricted to a limited space during their virtual reality experience.

Acer offers their Windows Mixed Reality Headset with motion controllers. Knowing this, 343 chief Kiki Wolfkill attempted to manage expectations, describing the free demo as a "fun little arcade experience" rather than a game in any way. If it wasn't abundantly clear already, this is not an actual Halo game, so don't go in with the expectations of it being one when it does release.

Now that we have that out of the way, here's what's Samsung Odyssey offers.

The Samsung HMD Odyssey is available for pre-order now and will be released on 6 November for $500 (£377).
