The Elliott suspension has been weaving through the courts since he was ordered in August to serve the ban for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy. If his six-game suspension is upheld, beginning with Sunday's game against the Falcons, then he would be eligible to return the field on December 24 when the Cowboys, now 5-3, face the Seahawks at home.
Elliott's legal team has been tenacious in their attempt to fight a six-game suspension. In that case, Elliott would miss the Cowboys' home game against the Eagles on November 19 and would be eligible to return for the season finale, a December 31 game at Philadelphia.
Due to Thursday's verdict, Elliott's suspension will be reinstated by the league immediately, with an official transaction notice from the NFL expected soon. He's eligible to return in Week 16 versus the Seattle Seahawks. Elliott has racked up 783 rushing yards so far this season, second most in the NFL.
The ruling by the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals means Elliott will begin serving his suspension this weekend, ruling him out of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons.
He played the first eight games on three different legal reprieves.
