This is a beta app, and Google notes that there could be some bugs and issues that arise while using the app.

Share your files offline - fast & secure - with the tap of a button.

The Files Go app is similar to both Android Go and YouTube Go in terms of the basic premise of the app. Given the popularity of this neat app, Google has expanded the availability of the beta on the Play Store. The main UI shows an overview of the storage situation on the phone. You also will notice you can clean the app cache from here and also remove media that you recorded.

Google has silently started testing a new app called "Files Go" to provide Android users with a unified solution for all their storage management and wireless file transfer requirements. According to now-pulled Play Store images, the app is meant to transfer files wirelessly, even without an internet connection, much like Apple's AirDrop tech. We are not sure of all of the features yet, but we got a glimpse of what is in store thanks to the test release on Google Play. It will tell you Documents, Videos, Images, Downloads, and Received Files.

For those not familiar, aside from simply letting you explore your files, Files Go helps you clear up space by deleting unused apps, duplicate photos, and large files.

Comparatively, Apple's AirDrop does not need any additional apps to transfer files between devices. With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggled on two devices, files can be transferred effortlessly.

Though early speculation was that Files Go was being aimed at emerging markets, we understand it's on track for a global launch, starting in December. If you once knew that the app must've cost something, then the one listed was given for free, you should start to get suspicious. Google also set up a new app review procedure to pinpoint violators as early as possible. This makes it easier to free up some space by uninstalling those apps right from the Google solution.
