For the first time in the almost three-decade old militancy in the State, an American M4 carbine colt rifle was found on the slain militants besides a AK 47 Draco and a pistol along with live ammunition.

Talha, police said, is a nephew of Jaish chief Moulana Masood Azhar.

They (JeM) have confirmed that the killed militant is a Pakistani national, he added.

According to Rick Rossow from Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), an American think-tank, China's latest move affirmed Delhi's belief in Sino-Pakistani collusion.

India has long accused Pakistan of harboring militant groups and giving them material support to carry out a 28-year armed revolt in disputed Kashmir.

"The matter will have to be taken thorough different channels, with concerned embassies", he said.

"Three militants killed at an encounter at Kandi Aglar village of Pulwama district includes nephew of Jaish-e-Muhammad Chief Maulana Masood Azhar and outfit's divisional commander", a JeM presenter said in a statement.

A civilian was also got hurt in the gunfight. Indian police had claimed that the youth were killed during an encounter with the troops. He also said that the mortal remains of the martyr were flown to his native place for the last rites.

The civilian, as per locals, was shot at by government forces when protests erupted in the area. "We are not concerned what is their religion or other things", he said. He said the local militant Waseem Ganaie of Pulwama had joined militancy on August 19, 2017.

"This is used by the special forces of Pakistan Army, so we have a reason to believe that this weapon was given by Pakistan Army to JeM cadres".

"One of the slain militants was Wasim Ahmad Gania".

Maj. Gen. B.S. Raju, commander of the Rashtriya Rifles' Victor Force, told the media conference, "This US made M4 carbine is presently with a lot of armies with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. This was first time that a U.S. made weapon was recovered from militants in Kashmir".

Raju said this was not the only M4 rifle functional in the region, and that there could be 5-10 such weapons brought in by infiltrating militants.

A photo of a militant flaunting an M4 rifle had gone viral in Kashmiri social media circles last week.

The IGP said, there are around 16 to 20 Jaish-e-Mohammad militants active across the Kashmir valley.
